Ok, so after getting quoted 8K$ For a full rebuild, or 4.5k$ for a replacement 2nd hand engine, i've said fk that. Im hoping the dealership will take care of my engine, but if not i'd best get my own shit sorted.

So, im looking for an exact replacement for my stock ej20 MY01 Wrx engine. Shortblock/longblock whatever. Aslong as it has less then 150Thou km's, and runs perfectly =P

Also ej207 short block considered i guess, should it mix'n'match with my current engine headers ect.

Get 207 short block. (2600).

Your heads, freshen up, cams/head work if you want, done deal.

Pay for parts alone and do it yourself. Or budget around 7k drive in/drive out.

2nd hand motor = time bomb. Sure, it may run perfectly now... But what happens 500k's down the road?

UNfortunatly, the 2nd hand motor is the only viable option. I dont have money to budget or spend, i've just spent 14-15k on the car, im not willing right now to fork out any more, as the bank is basically bust as is. Shame, really. As i too believe if you're gonna do something, do it right. But right now, its just getting done so i can actually get to work and make some more cash to pay for a proper rebuild!

QFT, to save money pull the blown engine out and strip it yourself thats prob $1k right there then buy new 207 short block from James, get your heads skimmed and tested and get MMS or Dougie to whack it back in for you.

Will cost you prob $5k if you do it that way and remember it has forged pistons and comes with a warranty.
