Default ej20 engine life

Sorry I really hope this isnt a dumb question, I have run a search to no avail.

What is considered the avarage life for a unmodded ej20 wrx motor?

mine is at 100,000 kms and had all services, hasnt been thrashed often. Some people I have been talking too say thats old for a ej20 motor and that if I want another 50,000 I shouldnt modify it. Was going to add a new dump/up pipe (have a 3inch cat back) and get a new ecu and tune but would this push it over the edge?

Cheers

i think it would be safe to say that the avergae ej20 would last past 100,000 easily. unless its been completly thrashed, but u know if its been looked after, serviced at regular intervals it should last waaay past 100k's. I know plenty of unmodded ej20t rexes that are miles past that and still going strong. i woudlnt go and say 100k's is exactly old.

You know, there are quite a few RS Libertys going aroung with more than 250,000kms.
I have also seen a RS Lib with 320,000 kms on it.

If you look after your engine, it will last a very long time.

ok so modifying a 100k car isnt out of the question, the engine still has more love to give?

Mate i Darwin bought an rs with over 400 on the clock still going stronf that was about 16 months ago. My 93 has 250000 on the clock had the rocker covers off to replace some seals last week still nice and clean inside no signs of wear agree as long as it gets its regular services should be fine

as long as u dont punish it with ridiculously high boost level and service it regularly with quality oils then it should be fine
