Default 1997/1998 WRX body

Hey all,

Been thinking and i have decided that I want a chassy/body of a 1997/1998 WRX so I can slowly build it up and Have that feeling of achievment for when it's road legal and on the road.

So without further adue, I am after a 1997/1998 subaru impreza chassy/body in good condition, It can be a GX or RX body if ofcourse the wiring looms are the same as the WRX as I would not like to rewire the whole vehicle.

I already Have an engine i can use for a rebuild so i will not be needing an engine with it.

If anyone knows someone selling there chassy engine 1997/1998 Please let me know in a PM with a name and a price as i am not 100% sure on what such a thing would cost.

cheers,
Clarkie

tip.

start with a 98/99/00 chassis.

but you will still need to re-wire the whole car, looms are different

I thought the wiring looms for 97/98 were the same? or am i wrong?

If that is true then i will quite happily go for a 98/99/00 model chassy =)

Thanks for the tip

Nope. 97/98 share same engine. 97 has early dash, 98 has late dash so wiring is different to the dash on each. 99/00 share same engine but it is different to the pre 98. Different heads, inlets etc. Has late dash but different plugs for dash cluster.

GX, LX, RX etc all have different wiring again...

Best of luck my friend! I tried doing a ground up build with an R32 GTR and it ended up costing the earth. It ended up costing so much that I had to sell the car and reclaim some lost funds..

But your going with Subaru so everything will be fine ! :P

98-00 chassis and a 99-00 half cut, you cant go wrong.

i would not treat this as an investment, its all about a learning experience

rx loom would be pretty different to a wrx loom, if you end up buying an my99 gx shell i have the perfect loom for you, inlcudes link g3 ecu, wideband o2 sensor, full loom, dash cluster etc etc, see my forsale ad
