I'm running a set of Ultrex rims on my gc8, they are good value for money and quite light, as for tyres I've got Nexen N6000. They are pretty grippy and good for the street, I think cost was about 186 per tyre for 225/35/ZR18.

But yeah +1 for Rob @ ULTREX PERFORMANCE - BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK IN PERFORMANCE PARTS

Rob/Ultrex - PM'd

Got a quote back from Tempetyres - $1400 (+$200 Postage) for Giovinco TE37 (products) (comes with Falken 452 tyres  )

But i still prefer the Rota's or maybe even the Matrix from Rob, all depends on $$$

Also emailed westys wharehouse for tyre prices ... now the wait

Whats the go with Durun tyres? (good or Sh*t?)
would i be better with Nankang or are they about the same quality/wear wise?

ImPreSiV 25-07-2012 09:08 AM

you obviously got the same message from Westy that I got. I'd go the Federal 595's ;)

Tyres are what connects your car to the road.

I'd be buying the best quality tyres you can afford rather than some cheap china rubbish.

teejay 25-07-2012 09:23 AM

Fuck the haters, China's finest is fine!

Bee06 25-07-2012 11:35 AM

I was trying to stay under $1600 for package hence looking at the Duruns or Nangkan?
As long as the tyres arnt overly slippery or going to wear out super fast ill be happy, im used to my old rear wheel drive 180Sx so im assuming AWD WRX doesnt need "as grippy" tyres?

Strubaru 25-07-2012 11:42 AM

the crap thing is that the good tyres that give you the best grip will wear out heaps faster than the cheapo tyres with crap grip

i had some zetum tyres on my foz, they're wern't actually too bad, around 140 a corner for 18X235's

huggy_b 25-07-2012 11:45 AM

Exactly, the magic of Subaru AWD will make your car stick like shit to a chrome shovel. Makes me wonder why they bothered putting fancy Dunlop tyres on them from the factory.

LingLong ftw - good enough for the taxis, getting you home in one piece after an epic night out (just don't fall asleep, or else you might get touched on way home)
