With the exception of putting the sideskirts, guard liners and front mudflaps on
the car and checking the alignment, she is finished and ready to race again

Massive thanks go to Doug and Damien and the rest of the crew at STechnic
for helping me get back on the road. Due to my back problems I haven't been
able to really do anything myself and they have been fantastic sourcing the
bulk of the parts for me and performing the rebuild.

Still have plans to install the PFC and a few other bits, but for now I am just
happy to have her driving again.

So thought I'd do an update...

After a discussion on how to start testing my back with my Physio, I went for laps in the passenger seat in the BlueStar racecar and with Franz in the Evo (HOLY SHIT) at Barbs on Anzac day. Was pretty sore the next day, but I pulled up as I expected. My muscles still need strengthening and conditioning to handle lateral force. BUT it was a good indicator of progress so I am on track to be back behind the wheel for the RallySprint mid-year round in late July.

It was at this event last year that I reorganised the front end of the car, so subsequently I am making some minor improvements in the search for more time and less pole action.

So have ordered Project Mu HC+ pads as I dont have confidence in the QFM's currently on the car.

Federal RS tyres... These are the tyres that were developed as the control tyre for the Lotus Cup Series. They became what is now the Federal 595 RSR. I dont do a lot of continuous circuit work, only short sprint type events, so the aim
here is to get a tyre that comes on and heat quickly which this will do. Going wider than previous. 225/45/17.

Some other minor changes to the car include installing Cusco rear diff brace, install better harness mounts,
refresh the gearbox fluid.

Got some other goodies I want to order too, but well just see how that goes.
Here she is all back together and polished up. Hardly been out in a year.

Nice work Dave.

Have you thought about doing RAC sprint series as an introduction to motorsport instead of the more dangerous twilight series?
kid and XT43 like this.

I have, but a) haven't got off my arse to investigate/enter, b) haven't been able to drive anyway.

I really enjoy the rallysprint series and having a codriver (which is also changing this year).
My dream as a 10 year old and ever since was to be a world rally driver, and let's face it...
at 33 this is probably as close as I'll ever get.

The plan is to see how I go at the rallysprint physically and then see what happens. There is a chance that it could all be too much and I wont be competing in anything again. Costs have also been a rising issue. I'll have two kids at private school next year, so need to prioritise.

Well if you need to know anything about it let me know. I know I havent done twilight but have seen plenty of it. Looks very jarring on your back going up and down all those obstacles/gates/snakepit. Sprint series is alot smoother... Also cheaper and extremely fun!
