I think he meant why changing from going Verso to Autronic
as i'd originally plan going Verso.

Nothing against Verso at all but i don't want to touch the 204 ECU at all
and i want to keep it OG and virgin even so much that when the SM4
goes in i will be using another ECU case as i dont want to even drill a
small hole for the PC cable into the 204 case.

The other main reason is resale as you cant get any money back from verso
when you put the car back to stock but with the SM4 i'm guaranteed to get
something back.

That's pretty damn impressive from a factory car. It's almost putting out as much torque as my 9GT which already has an Autronic SM4 with the knock board in and with less boost. Admittedly I'm stuck with a 2.5" exhaust, but still. Impressive.

Edit: Is the car standard? Quoted flywheel power for the S204 is 235kw. Assuming a 25% drivetrain loss you should have been around 176kW at the wheels. Which is around what Ramon is saying 08 STi's are putting out with around the same flywheel power.

Nice work Wayne, but I'm sorry... I can't agree with your thoughts on the SM4 vs reflash.

I would have thought that a flash (even if you replace the ECU case with another one so you don't have to drill any holes), would optimise the awesome tune you already have, rather than having to start from scratch with the SM4.

I'm not sure who gave you the advice, but the first thing I would be doing to maintain the "originality" of the S204 would be to flash the ECU rather than replacing it, especially considering you're only going a dump pipe and centre pipe, with the stock rear section of the exhaust. IMHO its a bit of a waste of money buying a full replacement ECU, just because you want to maintain originality! You can always flash it back to standard when you have to!

Either way I'm sure it'll be fantastic, but thats just my 2c.

or just buy another 07 ecu and have verso / ecutek copy the file off the s204 ecu onto the stocker and reflash from there

You would hope the ECU's are the same with a different tune & no additional sensors. You would have to source a JDM ECU if they are the same, as twin scroll models have two Oxygen sensors.

dont know anything about saving the current tune...but can't you just do CTRL+S - save as... and then chuck verso. When you're sick of it just reflash it back

Yep - Should be able to do that with Verso.

Best Wayne contacts Verso directly for his questions so he can get a definitive answer.

Hey mate, yeah the car is stock and is doing more than the factory figures which is surprising.

Thanks to all the other guys for all your input/opinions and i do
read them and think about them but however at the end of the
day this is my car and if i want to spend a little bit more on a SM4
it's my choice.

Too late as i have it sitting right here now.

I have spoken to and been in other members cars with the SM4 with
Spec C conversions and i like it, if im not happy with MY choice then i will put the car back to stock and the 204 ECU back in as it runs fine on 98.

Also is it a waste of money if i can on sell it when i want to put it back to stock, can't sell the other choices.

If you don't like my choice then sorry i not doing this to please anyone im doing because I want to do it.

As for "originality" im not even going to start.

The SM4 wont be starting from scratch either as i we already have a map
as a starting point which is from a reliable JDM 04/05 Spec C car which is running a SM4, we will just fine tune it.

Please keep your Verso vs Autronic debate for the appropriate thread.

Thanks for coming
