Default My '99 Hatchback.

Hi everyone,

I bought this car in December last year, and I love it to bits!

Thought I would share mod list and some photos I took. I also was looking for some direction in my next mod... I'm looking to spend around $1000.

At the moment the car has:

  • Link G3 ECU
  • APS Cold Air Intake
  • Carbon Fibre STi Strut Brace
  • 3" Turbo back exhaust from RMS (I think)
  • Blue LED lights in the cluster
  • Lowered on king springs
  • 01(?) 17" rims in gold, NEXEN N3000 215/45/17
  • Short shifter
  • Autowatch alarm system
  • Decent sub, amp, splits and head unit
It was tuned a few years ago and dyno reads 150kw at the wheels.

I'm not really sure what direction to head in when it comes to my next mod. I want to keep it as a street car which is easily daily driven.

I've only got a small list, feel free to give me some ideas!

  • Process West Top mount intercooler
  • IHI turbo (Fast spool, great low-mid range, VF35 might be the way to go)
  • New tyres, I'm thinking Pirelli P-Zero Nero 215/45/17
  • Maybe better looking rims, not sure.
  • Colour code skirts, rear pods. (Thanks MY00GC8)
  • JDM Sti rear lights
  • I wish I could find some cheap genuine STi mud flaps!
Not sure what else, suggestions? I'll add them as I think of more!

Anyway, thanks for reading, and sorry for fubar'd picture resolutions..they were taken on different days and I can't be arsed to fix them.

Nik.

Yeah that's also on the cards! I forgot about the colour coding. Not too sure about the front lip, I like it how it is for now.

VF35 would be a winner for your goals I reckon.

Thanks mate. I'm keen to hear feedback on Process West top mount. I've read that the GD STi ones are better, but I would have thought a brand new intercooler without any bent fins (as a use sti one is bound to have), would have been better overall.

Negative...The PW gear is some of the best bang for buck upgrades available IMO... but the GD STi TMIC will still outperform the equivalent PW TMIC from what I've seen!

VF35 +1

Wagon STi tail lights are available... but not overly common.

That looks like my cousins old car.

Did you buy it from a dealer?

If so, RMS did all of the work to the car, the exhaust is from my old MY01 and it has a VF34.

Does it have a shift-i shift light on the steering column?

From what I hear, JWS has a few sets of STI hatch tail lights. I have them and an STI tailgate on my car. Love them.

I see, so I should expect to pay top dollar for the tail lights then. It's not urgent, just something I'd like to add on to it.

I'll have to look out for a decent sti top mount then. I just want to replace mine, which is in pretty terrible condition. I'm not too tech savvy either, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being hardest), how hard is it to install one of these? Also will the processwest one or the gd sti one fit with my strut brace?

Will I notice any difference when I change the intercooler? Or would it be best to save up and get a vf35 at the same time? Am I correct in assuming this will need a new tune? Also, will I need to upgrade the fuel system for this setup?

Argh, sorry about all the questions, I've had a lot on my mind concerning this.

I bought it privately. I'm not aware of any turbo upgrades on the car either.

No shift light either!

I'm getting it serviced at RMS from now on, but it appears the car was tuned at maximum motorsport, according to the dyno sheet.

Gx-Rex, I was looking at an sti tailgate for sale but couldn't tell the difference to the normal one. The photos were terrible quality though. Would you mind telling me what the difference is?

Ps, sorry for double posting, posting from an iPhone is a pain in the arse.
