Got a half decent set of second hand Dunlop DZ03G semis today. So we are looking forward to testing out a good set of semis opposed to the "great street tyre" we have been using the last 2 rounds.

Hopefully the lights we picked up will fit too & hopefully with a few suspension tweeks, tune, no more miss-fires & tyre pressure changes with the new (second hand) R Comps, we are hoping for another 5 seconds off our previous best time at the Rally Sprint.

Im getting pretty excited about it if I'm honest :)

RUSSGT 01-03-2012 09:55 PM

How much did you pay for the tyres?

RoughStilin 01-03-2012 10:02 PM

$500

Master D 01-03-2012 10:06 PM

Thats pretty awesome simon.
I was running around 34,35 psi when i had the A050's at midvale.
Id suggest sticking to something even as youll find proper rcomps ,like youve got, Wont need excessively high psi in the tyres because of the very stiff sidewalls.

_daz_ 01-03-2012 10:08 PM

Rallysprint here we come!!!

RUSSGT 01-03-2012 10:09 PM

30psi cold imo.

RoughStilin 02-03-2012 07:07 AM

Cheers for the advice Dave. I am waiting to hear back from what the guy who I bought them off recommends for pressures. He seems like a competitive racer, due to the only reason for selling these was to get 245 width Semi's to keep up with the guys above him. I guess each tyre manufacturer & each line of tyre is produced different, hence I am waiting to hear back from the guy on who I bought them off for a pressure range.

The 595 RS Federals I have now, whilst in my opinion they are a "better than average" street tyre, I was running 38 - 40psi cold, due to the side walls folding under quick, hard cornering at events. They don't really wear out either which tells me they are a pretty hard compound. Still, as I said they are a pretty grippy set of tyres.

I'm really looking forward to giving a "proper" set of R Comps a go. These bad boys look so sticky.....Mmmm Sticky.....

As usual mate I will post everything up. With never experiencing R Comps before I hope I get used to them quickly so I can get the most out of them at the sprint.

^ last pic would look epic of it was handbraked! Haha.

RoughStilin 08-03-2012 09:43 PM

So,

I managed to get a couple of days off work to fix a few issues before next round of the Rally Sprint. I got a few jobs done & have started to learn about tuning :)

I have fitted a front strut brace
Dunlop semi slicks are on their way from Brissy
Wideband sensor to keep an eye on AFR'rs & to help tune
Car weighed on scales

I have started to mess around a little with the Power FC wich has been interesting. Tuning is always something I have wanted to learn & now I am starting to. I tuned my fuel map a little today as since I have put the Z32 in the car has been running really rich.

A couple of pics of the scales & the wideband. It actually said 12.8 on the wideband gauge, the camera didn't seem to pick it up for some reason?

Only a couple of KG from left to right seems pretty much spot on.
Under 1200kg total to me seems fantastic, has much been taken out or is that a usual wet weight for a GF8??

RoughStilin 08-03-2012 10:18 PM

Pretty much everything thats not needed is out. The only things that aren't needed but still in are the plastic door trims, headlining & the heater core & fan, petty much everything else is gone. I think a standard GF8 is just over 1280kg dry, I had about 1/2 a tank of fuel when the car was on the scales.

tuna 08-03-2012 10:20 PM

good effort on the wagon, shame you have all those KG's stuck in the sunroof !

tommo 08-03-2012 10:31 PM

Open/tilted sunroof is extra downforce!! Saves weight on the rear wing :)

TheDoctor 08-03-2012 10:35 PM

Where did you weigh the car guys? I'm keen to weigh mine to see what it's starting weight is so eventually when I do start tearing bits out I'll have something to compare it to.

Thanks.

How are ya Tom? You coming to the next round of the sprint?

Weighed it at home (not mine) you can hire the scales from a couple of companies in Perth. If you only want to weigh you car, you can just go to a weigh bridge though.

Julz 08-03-2012 10:46 PM

Hey mate, where did you get the wideband/how much? looks the goods :)
Good brand?

Cheers

Julz

forde 08-03-2012 10:46 PM

Pull the sunroof out and put a piece of perspex in there?

Thanks. I've only been living in Perth a couple of years so where would I find a weigh bridge?

seagull 08-03-2012 10:56 PM

I would be happy for you to have a go tuning my 207 in the liberty with the PFC Pro, motor is run in now :)

forde 08-03-2012 10:56 PM

There is one on great eastern hwy near guildford grammar.

This one is. But the last one the LC-1 was a pain in the arse. it took me about a hour to install & then 2 hours messing around trying to get it to read on the gauge & in the Power FC, but no cigar.

This one I put in today the Innovate MTX-L seems good so far. It was much easier to install over the Innovate LC-1. I have only used it for about 4 hours, so time will tell how long it lasts. The AEM one is "supposed" to be better???

It was from Vision R in O'conner $230 I think, or something like that.
Pull the sunroof out and put a piece of perspex in there?
Im keen to just pull the sunroof out.

There are a few in perth, but the easiest one to get too, not knowing where you live, is your local rubbish dump. They pretty much always have scale at their entry. You may even get away with not paying if you ask nicely :) If you look closely in the distance at the dump you may even se a few Evo's :)
I would be happy for you to have a go tuning my 207 in the liberty with the PFC Pro, motor is run in now :)
No dramas Neil, I will keep learning on the Wagon for a bit, but you should get a wideband sensor, its great to be able to see your AFR's in real time.

TheDoctor 08-03-2012 11:07 PM

Cool thanks. Will have to find out where my nearest dump is. Will upload pics of Evos once I've been. ;)

Pimpreza 09-03-2012 12:36 AM

Your best bet would probably be north quay, I think it's in the yellow pages.
