Guys can I ask - have you (or last owner) done anything to the engine? Because I think yours and mine would have been similar, but mines only doing 178HP. Is the TD05 and the boost controller whats pushing it up to 250ish?

Stickers = horsepower remember! :D[/QUOTE]

In a way, that statement is very true John.

What turbo do you have? Yeah the TD05 will be the reason, but I am assuming you have a TDO4. Also the front mount will give it another 20 - 30hp going from previous information I have been given. We have done nothing to the engine internals, just a full exhaust, catless up pipe, FMIC, 440cc injectors, Power FC ECU, pod filter, external boost controller...... Basic stuff

TD04 to TD05 is a decent power hike. TD05 is also 'laggier' compared to TD04.

So there are pro's and con's to both.

Get some sways and brakes sorted cam :-) then shedloads of seat time.

I personally think pushing more power out of an already tired engine is bad news.
Get the above sorted and youll be in business.

Yep.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but how does a front mount add 20 - 30 hp? I thought it doesn't add any hp?

_daz_ 17-02-2012 04:51 PM

Bigger intercooler than standard = more cooler air flow = more power

In a nutshell - cooler intake air is more oxygenated than warm air, the more oxygen you have the more fuel you can burn, more fuel you can burn means more power from engine.

As Darren has already pointed out is the reason. People have commented that it ads extra "lag" or "throttle response" or whatever you want to call it, but to be honest, both myself & Darren have not noticed any extra time difference getting the car onto boost with the FMIC over the slanty style TMIC. Maybe the slanty type was more restrictive? I'm not sure.

Unfortunately I do not have back to back dyno runs to compare, but Johns dyno charts in the linked below thread tell the story quite well.
