So I looked into some EJ207's (not very hard but just enough to find a few) and most are used (more K's then my block) and the cost doesn't offset the fact that I KNOW my block is solid and I KNOW my internals will take what I serve up to them.

Does anyone know if SUBARU can get NEW EJ207 short motors in? and at what cost? (I'm guessing my left leg and a kidney as a deposit...)

EDIT: and does anyone know the limit of the open deck EJ205 with forged internals?

EDIT 2: I am going to see STECHNIC to get these answered, but until I get a day off I thought I may aswell ask the experts **cough cough** (kidding guys, you are great)

I did not realise they were so reasonably priced. I might have a look at building one of those up rather than try and squeeze every drop out of my 205.

Yeah, Thinking along the same lines, although I still recon the EJ205 gets a bad rap because they pop from tooo much PSI and tooo much right foot

I will assess my options at STechnic, but soooo far I am still leaning towards building the humble EJ205... for now.

Ask STechnic for a supply and fit of a EJ207 as they may be able to offer a better overall deal this way.

Went to see STECHNIC and they were a great help.

So I will be going for the EJ207 option, hopefully putting my car in to the workshop over the next fortnight

I am interested in what people think is a fair price for my 'old' EJ205 SHORTBLOCK @ 77,000KM? So I can put it up for sale soon. It doesn't have any pre-existing problems, runs smooth as silk and is warmed up every day before being driven.

Why dont you just stick with what you have and track it? Why would an extra xx amount of kw help you? Sounds like you like the idea of saying to your mates you have xxxxxhp but dont seem to use it?

Lots of cheap track options out there that are way more fun than spending money building up an engine when yours was fine to begin with.
