So new week new parts this time some AD08R's and alignment courtesy of John Fowler Autosport

The alignment was pretty average before, only major issue was the drivers rear was -0.7* out. That might have been my last track day when I dropped a tyre coming off the first turn after the long straight of RAC. That aside no issues and the new combo looks fat and fills the guards nicely and the best bit is I lost 4.59KG per corner from my old set up!

The alignment specs for those interested:
Camber: (f) -3.2* (r) -2.4*
Caster: (f) +3.2*
Toe: (f) 0.3mm (r) 0.1mm

So had to go for a quick spin after I had them fitted today so decided to go for a drive around Gooseberry Hill and back road of Kalamunda and they are amazing. From initial turn-in to corner exit they have great feedback, but couldn't really test the limits on the road. The best part is road noise, they are extremely quiet even on the crappiest road surface.

For the people keeping score the current wheel and tyre combo weighs in at 17.19kg (old combo 21.78kg). So some fresh brake fluid and it's ready to go!!

So decided to wash the car and give it a quick once over: no notable oil usage after a service 2,000km ago, brakes all in good order, brake & clutch fluid will likely need changing after another track day and after all that I just sat back soaking up all that tough black goodness.

Club Foz WA impromptu cruise to distribute club stickers and apparel was a good excuse to take it out for a nice drive. Nice to hit full boost for the first time in a while, with my 8 minute drive to / from work I don't get much of a chance to run it through the gears.

Gave me some time to reflect on future ideas about engine and gearbox changes... Make it another step closer to a complete STI swap

UHHHHG, when someone pushes a shopping trolley up against your car...

So when I was at the shops getting bread and milk I found a friend... or to be more accurate Club Foz WA admin meeting at the pub

Not much has changed since the last post, I thought the engine was starting to burn oil, I made deals with god to save this EJ but then it turned out it was fine. So in that haste I made up a quick build sheet (EJ257 short block, maybe pistons, maybe cams, definitely 6 speed...) of what I want in the engine, but that will be forever evolving until the say comes I need to rebuild it.

So now that crisis has been put to rest I am purchasing a few things to tidy the engine bay up because in my opinion that is the area that visually lets the car down the most, there is too much colour. Parts on that list include;
- SG9 Forester STI airbox, plus aftermarket panel filter (will modify for extra flow)
- Black inlet pipe. Unsure of which brand, just as long as its got internal re-enforcing and isn't red.
- Oil catch can. Because racecar...
- Process West TMIC (black) or more likely paint the STI cooler black and re-cover in DEI tape.
- Paint the intake manifold black. The dirt, dust, oil and rain have stained it over time.

So essentially, I have murdered out the exterior and interior... about time the engine bay was smartened up too!

So started the pull out the intercooler today and was a little bummed about the fact I didn't finish the wrap of DEI Reflect-a-Gold, so a quick trip to Revolution Racegear and I was re-stocked and about 30 minutes later I was done.

I also decide to delete the factory breather hardline that sits on the TMIC and change out the silicon coupler / elbow while it was out.

Final job for today is to polish up the headlights, which came up 100% nicer. No longer is there faith staining and cloudy edges.

Next on the list will be changing out the inlet pipe to a black silicon Forester specific item so I can plumb the BPV back into the intake properly, then throw a SG9 STI Airbox onto the new inlet. Will modify the airbox and make a feed pipe that collects from behind the fog light.
