Yeh the cut is probably the best bet if you just want to catch smaller stuff
tims thicket, white hills etc are also very good. You'll need 4WD though (and the wrx wont cut it!) At Tims you can two wheel drive up to a point and then walk the rest of the way (not far) and fish inside the reef. Can get busy though
madora fires for big mulloway (15-22kg) if you plan your tides, winds, moon phases right!
if your chasing herring etc just sit on the rocks at the cut (if its a sea breeze fish the south side due to obvious reasons!), get a slow sinking berley cage (with a blue spotted white float in the middle) and run about 1.5m of light trace (say 4kg) and a small hook. Maggots work best but bit of prawn will do!
