Hi Richard,

Electronics can be a mystery sometimes. Often the component that has failed, is not the culprit for the breakdown. but it was overloaded with current due to a malfuntion somewhere else on the circuit board.

definitely replace the blown resistor, but just remember there could be other faults with the circuit board.

Could there have been any reason for the blown resistor? Was the switch working on a hot day? covered in dust or towel or clothing?
