You're right - it's definitely not how it used to be! I found a couple of verification certificates from Alpine PDX amps a while back showing around about a 15% greater power output than specified. That figure used to be far greater. I remember a mate buying an MRF-345 (4x75) that had 4x111 on the verificaton certificate... 48% greater output than rated!
Either way, Serbaru: the PDX has plenty of power to run your sub and splits. No point running the Mono unless you're adding another good set of speakers or a substantially more powerful sub.
