O.k. well perhaps your talking about an
ecu reset and fast
ecu learn.
The
IAC valve is non-adjustable and the
ecu has a set idle rpm map...It cannot be adjusted by the user to either increase or decrease the idle speed.
The
ecu pulses current to the
IAC (it's simply a Dc stepper motor & plunger) in reference to the engine speed. If the
ecu has learned bad habits or someone has played with the throttle stop then a 30 second
ecu reset wipes the idle pulse memory.
Later CAN BUS (01- on) cars can be adjusted + or - 200 rpm through the the Subaru selectmonitor (scan tool).
