on the v5/6 ecu's the temp sensor is used to pull timing if the inlet (airbox intake) air temp exceeds 55 degrees, below this temp it does nothing.

The power fc allows you to map it's output to reduce both boost and timing, I've set mine to pull the boost back to 1.5 bar & pull 3 degrees of timing > = 50 degrees c to supress det.
