It was an ikeya type shifter arrangement (developed for
wrc and sourced from racetorque i believe)with lock out reverse and motec driven pressure switch. Simply accelerate get to your shift point pull on the lever, the
ecu would retard the ignition enough to release load and away you go grabbing the next gear. A complicated setup that required a fair bit of tuning, but when it was sweet it was epic. Not very street friendly though.
