ive always bedded new pads and rotors together, never had a problem, and dont have the problem of uneven pad wear / rotor wear having uneven contact.

for the ultimate, go dba 5000's and ds3000 pads, work from cold with no fade and they'll pull you up in a heartbeat

stepping down to the dba 4000's and ds2500 pads, they take a bit to warm up, and prone to fade after prolonged use, brake relatively well

scratching the bottom of the barrel, dba 650's and ts2000 pads, bonus is they work cold, but fade very fast, and only pull up maybe a little better then stock.
