My two bobs worth Kym, and I understand the dilema you are facing. The new style is awesome, but I have a soft spot for the MY05, always have, always will and thats why I owned one, which I beleive is the best model Subaru released as an all rounder. I would go the 05 STI if it were me
On the other hand re family type car, look what American Dave has transformed with his XT Foz. We love our XT Foz, although stock standard (unless I win lotto), its got a heap of space, and with a few mods and/or lowered suspension, looks the goods.
