You don't 'have to' give up the nicotine....Like you, I tried a normal cig over the weekend, YUK!! I could never go back to licking ashtrays!!
Nicotine is a stimulant and effects the CNS in a similar way to caffeine....Not many people have to give up caffeine.
It's not the nicotine that's evil - it's the delivery method of burning a plant to get it that carries all the carcinogens.
