Bosch 040s are NOT, I repeat, NOT made for a WRX...they are made to suit cars such as Nissans, where the pump can be installed right on the bottom of the tank.

Can I ask who recommended this pump for your car??

The pump to suit yours is a Bosch 910, or an 044.
