Is the amplifier mounted to metal? Does the noise go up and down with revs?

If the amplifier is mounted to metal, you may want to make a baffle for it out of wood to prevent any chance of a ground loop. Also, check the earth connection from the battery and make sure it's well connected and is not corroded etc.
