Since then my lock and unlock buttons don't work. They were working when I arrived at the shop as I locked the car with it. The car is a 2004 wrx and still has the factory brant keypad and alarm system.(don't judge me for still having it.) has anyone else had this issue that could give me some advice before I go to Subaru and get asked to bend over.

If your key stopped working immediately after locksmith I would contact him and query. If it was sometime after probably coincidence.

Sometimes when you replace batteries in them you have to pair security codes with the vehicle. Not sure if Subarus are set up this way.

My old Magna was like this, check in your user manual for key battery replacement procedure.
