As long as the pistons are pushing on the shim then there is nothing wrong with them!
They probably re-used the OEM shims when the pads were changed - that too isn't a problem either.

p.s single straight slotted disks are by nature noisy & the reason why you see non-symetric slot patterns (like your new rotors and like mine)
