Brendon what problems did Lane mention to you about the knock control board?

He asked me if I had one in my car and I told him I didn't because they are not available to suit a GC8 he said not to worry about it even if they were cause they were still ironing out a few small issues. Brendon

sounds like people are assuming these knock boards to be a massive permenant safety margin.
problem is like any aftermarket ecu, they only learn during session (wideband etc) and revert back to the base tune map (that was last saved) after you switch off the ignition. so knock module or not, if its poorly tuned to start with you will always have a large percentage of knock until the module re-corrects the map again each time you start the car.

Would have thought the way to use the knock board (unless it is on a dedicated race car that you really want that very last KW) is to tune the car to the limit that you can get with a safe tune and then the knock board is there only to protect the engine in the case of a dodgy batch of fuel or when the silly mrs puts in the wrong fuel.
A tune that relies on knock sensors to pull timing to find the maximum is simply a poor tune.
