American Dave' Ride Blogography

I happened to glance at the odometer this morning and noted that I am just about to turnover the 40,000 km mark. I have owned this car since new on June 1, 2007 and I am pleased to report that the car has never caused me one problem. While you hear plenty of horror stories from Subaru owners about big end, ringland failures etc. I am happy to report this is one owner who has nothing but praise for his car.

I have done a fair number of mods and tuning to it to date and have had NO issues to date. It drinks a bit of oil but nothing extreme and while its not the most fuel efficient car on the road at 13 ltrs / 100 it still makes me smile. I have another 7 months of the lease remaining for this car and my plans involve buying out the lease on it and retaining it to enjoy and do some more serious engine and snail mods down the track.

New 52mm thick Aluminum radiator and Air Oil Separator installed today by Doug and the boys at STechnic. These guys are legends and have done all the work on the Foz to date.

All that is left is more dyno tuning next...stay tuned

Update as it now stands under construction. Its all in the hands of Stechnic now. The guys did a great job of fabricating up a new flexible oil inlet line to the turbo.
I have also ordered a new Innovative Motorsports Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge MTX-L Wideband O2 Digital Air/fuel Ratio Gauge so I can keep a closer eye on proceedings once the new motor is installed. Hoping to be back on the road again in a couple of weeks time.

Innovative Motorsports MTX-L Digital Wideband Air Fuel Ratio Gauge will allow some accurate logging. Now to figure out what location to install the gauge. Looks like a dardy piece of kit.

Stopped into Stechnic today. Good progress has been made with the engine out, heads are getting a refresh and really just waiting for the cams and springs, gaskets to arrive (Friday I hope). I really need a new clutch as the one I have was not great to start with as it was 2nd hand. So a button clutch (like Burke') is going in along with flywheel to suit.

Update on the new engine build is that the new BC cams and springs arrived at Stechnic yesterday. They checked the oem valve heights and discovered they were too far out of spec so they sent them over to the Engineer to set them correctly and put new valve stem seals in at the same time. Hoping to get the engine back together next week now.

You and me both Joe. Yokine Super Stage and mount Creswell Rd for sure.

Just returned from Stechnic and pleased to say the motor is back together and all the plumbing back on it. Plan is for it to be dropped back into the Foz this arvo / tonight. Excitement builds.

The Foz can no longer lay claim to being the worlds most modded vehicle on a novated lease. I paid the residual owing on it and now own it out right.

The plans are to park it up as a daily driver then upgrade the fuel system and injectors then retune so its ready for Collie weekend with Perth-WRX in Sept.

I am looking at leasing another Subaru for work but quoted delivery is a ways off it seems.
