it's been around forever and it's a LAW unless you're an Abo and then you're allowed to carry 50 persons in your kingswood

no Jester - he's right... before it was legal to carry passangers in the rear of a wagon or 4wd - just not a ute - which was changed about 10 years ago...

Let this day be remembered as the day [Squid] actually said something sensible.
"New laws came into effect on 1 October 2010, that has introduced new rules for the restraint of children and adults. These amendments follow those made at the national level under Australian Road Rules. While there have been rules prohibiting the carriage of unrestrained passengers in the backs of utes, trucks and panel vans since 2006, there have been no restrictions in the case of more passengers in the main body of the vehicle than available seat belted positions. This situation was of grave concern, given the importance of restraints in protecting occupants from injury in the event of a collision. From 1 October 2010, only passengers that are sitting in a seat that is fitted with a seat belt or child restraint fastened properly can be carried in the vehicle. No additional unrestrained passengers are permitted and passengers can not share the same seat." For more information, see the document below. http://www.ors.wa.gov.au/_layouts/ge...RCN=D10#224179 New child restraint laws came in on the same day.

Thats not to say we haven't all encountered an overzealous cop on a power trip !!
QTT! I got hassled by cops when I was on red p-plates, because I was at a party, driving around looking for parking, pulled up onto the driveway/kerb strip/footpath, and the persons driveway was the "red rocks" so slippery, some drunk dick ran in front of me, I braked and skidded all of 1 mtr in the rocks. Cops then come up to me at 11pm pull me over, then tell me that I need to move on cause my curfew is near (12pm) I told him I live locally and I am picking up mates from a party, he then goes on to say that if he sees me again he will arrest me!, I said for what exactly, he reckons I was doing skiddies in the gravel, which I told him about the person who jumped out, and he still said I will have your license and car tonight under the hoon laws if you are in this area again tonight :/ Power trip much...
