With regards to your personalised perspex plates, check with DOT. I can't say for sure, but I would think that since you paid the premium for the plates originally, that a remake would be much cheaper than the original make and issue to you.

Worth a phone call to them, but in any event, the offending driver is culpable for the costs.

Yeah I'll chase it up with the insurance tomorrow.

It's correct that I shouldn't have to pay the excess. Once the insurance companies fight it out.

@ Rich, yeah I checked online and it's a Lexus. Also what came up on the crash report I did online.

I'll update once I've spoken to SGIO tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice

I think inconsiderate and incompetent is more accurate. Probably the best thing you can do is get a decent dash camera as a bit of insurance. On Sunday i had someone behind me at the lights who's foot 'slipped' onto the accelerator. Causing him to slam into the back of me and push me along for a short while. He eventually figured his range rover was never going to driver over my square Forester and the other pedal was probably a good idea.

At least i have dash camera footage so if he argues with my insurance company about it i have some evidence that i was totally stopped and following the road rules. In your situation most dash cameras will detect the motion of a car as it starts its parking manoeuvre and therefore capture the moment of impact. No arguing with video footage.

Gov website plates are $655.00 for acrylic then you have to hand the rear one in and pay for normal plates until your new ones are ready. That’s what happened to me when one was stolen but that was years ago. Cheers good luck
