Was thinking of doing mine when I got back to perth this week, trying to decide whether Black calipers or red would look nicer (Dark blue car)
Im leaning towards red.
Whether its red or black, id be doing the white lettering on it

Taking them off gives a better coverage / finish IMHO .. Just remember that brake fluid will stuff your paint. Keep it clean!

preparation is the key (as with all paint work)

Bring up a old thread, going to paint my calipers this week. Does Subaru sell the caliper stickers.

Just get a small brush and hand paint it on there, it's been done plenty
of times before.

What colour you going for?

that will be a job for the miss's i would say. probably go red with black writing or maybe green writing to match the colour of the car.

On the GC8's the lettering is raised so its easy to paint on. I re-did the lettering on mine, this time i used a rag dipped in paint, stretched tight and slowly dragged over the lettering.

Materials:

VHT Caliper Paint
Aluminium Foil
Newspaper & masking tape (optional)
Heavy Duty cleaner/degreaser
Thick bristled brush & scourer
Bucket

Method:

Jack up one side of the car.
Remove wheels.
Spray or apply degreaser/cleaner.
Clean the f%$k out of the calipers.
Rinse with boiling water
Allow to dry (hairdryer helps)

Default Part 2

Part 2

Use ali foil to cover up bits u don't want painted. (I didn't want the
exposed bit of brake pad painted)
I painted over the SUBARU logos as I have some decals in the mail
to replace them.
Good idea to mask up wheel surrounds too.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE VHT CAN! for
painting method.
Be very careful when putting wheels back on as not to
chip the freshly painted calipers (as I did)
Repeat for the other side of the car.
Go for a Spirited drive with lots of braking after about an hour
to cure the paint.
