Newb's Get technicks to mount it. THey drill through the box and through the 1 inch gap between the wheel well and the rest of the car. You can put two sturdy bolts through this and then resinstall the sub. and you cant see how its held down cause the bolts are inside the box.
Just look from underneath the car and you will see the gap you will be drilling through. Left or right side. It doesnt matter. I have this setup and it never moves

Buy some rocker straps, 27 Dollars from car stereo city, bolt them in the little "Sides" of your boot, If u want me to show u how i did it pm me and ill let u have a look, its fairly easy to do, it works perfectly and if u ever need to take the sub out for any reason (get to spare wheel whatever) you just unclip it.
To be honest; fucking brilliant, Im very happy with the end result, and for 27 bucks u cant go wrong |

I have a bazooka tube in mine and it came with a nylon starp. The strap slides through teh parcel shelf support beam (its got heaps of holes in it already) amd then under the bazooka. You can buy these from Millitary Disposal stores (very very cheap) and then apply velcro to teh base to assist the straps. No holes to be drilled in teh car. Also, grab some other carpet (WA salvage has black and grey) simmilary to the one used for sub boxes/boot carpet and trace around your original boot carpet. Cut to shape and you have instant boot protection and something the velcro will grab onto better.

I took out the carpet..copied the shape onto a piece of 4 mm ply...cut it out with a jigsaw..covered it with grey carpet that sub boxes are covered with...put it in and bolted(not screwed) the box to it, since wood isnt flexable it dosent go anywere...this was about an hour job but it's worth it..i'll post some pics when i get a chance as im on my gf's comp

I had the exact same problem.
I have a 15" pioneer sub in box. Basically I have straps going from the metal bar behing the back seats when they fold down, right down the bottom there. the strap goes around the bar and around the box. It sits real tight against the back seats. I'll take some pics if you'd like, No blots, no drilling. easy. |
