look kym all im saying is that i wanted to go all bush mechanic on installing ballasts.

guess cable tie is easier tho

to extend the lifspan of hid, install the ballasts away from heat and viberation. cos for those below 250 price range hids, big chance the ballasts are not filled with glue so cable tie only isn't enough for them as the electronic parts inside might unsolder then cause problems.

double sided tape and cable tie is what i used. Sorry didnt take any pictures should of when i did the install could of done a DIY up.

As i said i installed ballasts under headlight unit, plenty of cool air there when car is moving.

Personally, to avoid the heat (and vibration to a point), i cut all wires, then extended them myself with standard electrical cable. The ballasts are now located against the firewall/strut housing thing (yeah couldnt think of a better explanation). They bolted in pretty tight and also put some double sided sticky foam stuff (wow, so many technical terms ) on the back so it wouldnt vibrate so much.

Having said that, mine is NA, so no top mount to contend with for space.

This is where I placed my ballasts in an 02sti

Passenger's Side:



As you can see, the bracket goes over the clampy thing (technical term) that holds the battery in place, looks pro

Driver's Side:



Hard to see, but its there under the air intake infront of the airbox, as you can see, its held in position by that bolt, which has gone through a hole that used to be used by the resinator..

i see, so you attach the box thing against the firewall/strut housing thing neer the clampy battery thing with some sticky stuff.
