Did you end up using the wiring that goes along your boot lid to your wing to wire up the brake light?

This will not be much help to you now, and may be incorrect for a GC8 but when I removed the spoiler on my Liberty RS there was an additional spare fully wired plug in the boot under the parcel shelf to plug in the high mount brake light, worked straight away!

Ummm was a wire, inside some black wire tubing which is what i used for the brake light. I will have another look, but am very doubtful that there was another wire floating about.

Now your legal just live with it.
