yep as already said, power antenna wire. I didnt see it at first either. after couple cars realised radio was shit when putting new decks in. 1 wire behind the deck needs 12 volt, and you will have great reception again.

Bottom line is if you pay good money for a unit and for it to be professionally fitted then it is up to the installers (A1 Audio) to either make it work or refund your money....no discussion, no excuses...just get them to rectify it as it is their problem.

OK just to be absolutely clear here guys - A1 Audio have done a fantastic job thus far and customer service is also number 1. They have tried to rectify the problem on two seperate occassions and also spoken with Alpine Tech guys/engineers apparently. They are taking another look at it on Thursday for me but I just wanted to try and get bit of an insight into the matter. The more brains on the job the more ideas type of theory! Anyways, hopefully it is just a power antenna wire but I doubt it. I'll let ya's know on Thursday/Friday if anyone is keen. Here's hoping!!!

Still willing to put money on it that they haven't hooked up the power antenna line properly.
I didn't hook it in properly when I installed my deck and had the exact same issue (thinking the power antenna line was for powered antennas that go up and down, not ones in glass). Connect the wire up and hey presto you have reception.

as everyone else has said, hook the blue wire with the white trace from your stock harness to the aftermarket deck power antenna lead (or acc) and it will work

Blue with white is the remote or trigger wire to tell your amp/s to switch on and off

but yes the blue wire with white trace on your AFTERMARKET head unit is usually your amp-remote-turn-on lead, i think the plan blue is usually the power ant lead |

do you have tint on ur back window. It's possible that it could be affecting your aerial power. The tint sometimes contains led which can interfere.
Also, from what i remember about Alpine deck's in the past (4-5 years ago) they had pretty shitty FM tuners in them, they are awesome when it comes to CD quality or iPoof connectivity, but Radio reception has been poor. I have only had 1 Alpine deck before and this was the case, but I have had friends who have had them, and have also not been happy with radio reception. |

Rang and spoke to A1's and they have definetely connected the power antenna line and the booster in the rear pillars. They also checked that whole earthing scenario was done correct and replaced it to be certain - same f"*%#g result!!!
Just so weird that I have reception for each and every station in am/fm but is pretty piss poor quality. A1's are going to try another brand head unit (already tried other Alpine's) and see what happens.
