Default Radio reception is piss poor!!!

Need some advice / help please guys on what might cause a interference with getting a nice crisp sound from the radio of a complete new stereo system which has gone into a '05 WRX (WRP10).
It's got all new Alpine gear consisting of a 9887 head unit, PDX amps, R series speakers and 12" sub in pre-fab. box (in the boot), some Dyna-mat in the front doors.
The car is pretty much stock standard EXCEPT for stainless exhaust system (all the way) and street legal tint (and yes the rear window has the tint on the inside so I can't see how that would effect the reception/signal). Installed by a very professional mob in A1 Audio - great effort by the boys - and they have tried an external after market aerial and other tricks of the trade (like wrapping the head unit in alfoil i think he said, booster etc etc).
Apparently the head unit works fine on other cars and alternative Alpine head units still don't fix the problem in my car...DOH!!!!!

The stereo system itself otherwise sounds sweet!!!

Did you connect the power antenna line up? Without power to that you will have shit all reception.

I had the exact same problem with my new deck.

Wired up the Power Antenna and BINGO perfect reception in all areas.

There is the booster for the antenna located in the back pillars (I Think) to Power the rear Glass Window Antenna

Well I'm 99% sure this has already been done but will let you all know the answer i guess! Failing this would there be any other possible solution because he's fitted hundreds in the past apparently!?!
Cheers guys.

Maybe some part of the power system is arcing on the antenna lead. Get them to replace the whole line from the deck to where it connects at the rear window at no cost to you.

I have the same issue in my 2002 wrx, very poor reception, I know the power antenna cable from the deck isnt connected to anything. (I remember checking recently)
So, Im assuming there should be a corresponding wire in the wiring harness for the desk from the car that should be a power antenna?

If it's second hand someone may have cut the wire real short and it won't have a tag on it anymore.
Nah, the deck wire still has the tag on it, its a new deck, but I never saw one to match it in the car, guess I didnt look hard enough

The antenna is in the rear glass, thing is, when I had the stock deck, I got perfect reception. I firstly had an Alpine deck put in (out my old car) and I had little to no reception, unless I was close to perth (or the stations transmitter) The deck worked fine in the previous car.
I recently put in a new JVC deck, and still have the same problem. Cant figure out why the stock deck had good reception, but both these decks dont, but do in other cars.

lol sorry to Hi-jack WRP10_85
