Default Paint Job on 08 Impreza Model+

Apparently in the US, paint on the new 08's are chipping off literally after leaving the showroom! (most common on the DGM colour)

Have any on the new 08 owners experienced this problem yet?

I dont think excessive paint chips are anything new on WRX's though
the new ones are supposed to have thicker paint on the front though to stop this.

And just HOW will thicker paint stop stone ships?
Its more in the prep and undercoat than just slapping on thicker paint....thicker paint will leave deeper holes.

stone chips are stone chips it all depends on where you drive as to how severe the chips are..... unless you plan on wrapping the front bar in a car bra then any car regardless of how good the paint is will get some form of chip...eventually.

my 5 cents..

Cant remember where I read it but it talked about a new dual layer paint on front of 08's specifically to reduce stone chips - so the chip reveals same colour underneath. Will try to find where I read it but obviously dual layer is thicker.

Mercedes introduced an innovative product some time back:
Nano-Particle Automobile Paint It will probably take some time before this stuff becomes economical for Subaru.

Seems to be getting worse as the years go by...each new generation has worse paint than the last!

01 onwards WRX was pretty bad too, mine looks shithouse and its only done 45,000km.
