na it was fine , and if you get some damage! , break out the brush and paint on a sunny day and you are all set to stun again at the next car show

Don't knock Roller painting! Heard of a few variations of it now, Tractor paint and Marine paint apparently. Results are surprising to say the least! A bit time consuming but can be done by almost anyone!

for $1500 your only looking at exterior paint job no jams engine bay etc... and I would say it would be poor quality paint

the outside, door jams and boot respray, not engine bay, ( with some rust repairs ) on my commodore was $6000. thats with knowing someone, a friend of a friend.

$1500 wont get your very much and if it does, it'll be a pretty average job with no dents or rust taken care of. if a car doesnt need any dent or rust repairs and the prep work has been done then you might be able to do it for $1500.

Default Supercheap paint

My father in his sacry wisdom painted his 1974 Range rover with approx 25 x $1.99 Supercheapauto spray cans.......it looked quite good for about a week.

then the paint started to fade and within a month, it looked worse than it did before the paintjob.

so a month later, we had to redo the paintjob. sand back the whole car....again. it wasnt hard, the cheap paint came off easy.

ended up painting it with a 4L tin of Monza Red car paint from supercheap. for under $100 and a days work it came up rather well.
i wouldnt expect it to last for more than several years, if it gets to 5 years ill be happy.

so the moral of ths story.....if you want your paintjob to last longer than a week, dont look for the cheapest option..

Seriouly though, if you fix the dents, rust and prepwork yourself, $1500 should get you a decent paint job that will last many years...

Steve.
