Depends how straight your car is, and how much prep is needed. I'm budgeting 8.5-10k for my complete colour change.

as above, depends on how much work's needed.

i just had my VK painted kinda on the cheap side ( friend of a friend ), some rust repairs, rear door swaps etc and it came to $6000. you won't get too many people/companies that'll do a good job for $3000 even for "just a respray".

You get what you pay for with paint.

materials can cost over $1000 depending on the quality and colour of the paint.
so $3000 wont get you far.

but definitely hunt around, and personally check out the work that shop is currently doing, and some that they have finished and are waiting to be picked up.

Had my RX7 painted, spent around 6K with the body kit, and I was not too happy with the end result, main reason I sold the car in the end. I am scared of panel beaters now and will be hard to put myself through painting a car again.

Bad experiences suck

This is why I am glad I did my apprenticeship. I paint my own cars so dont need to leave my car at a shop.
