thread bump...

wanting some advice from people who have had HIDs on their GC8's... does it require a beam-leveling system or anything to not blind other cars etc? and do they work ok in the non-projector headlights of the GCs?

i was considering getting a 6000k kit, any opinions on this?

last question.... as hid's dont have 2 filaments or whatever, are they still capable of high beam etc, and how good is the high beam on hids?

cheers

No they dont need the leveling system, Just adjust them when installed to sit at a good level not to blind people.

They are compatable with GC8 how ever they are designed for projector.

in halogen i would rekomend 4300k and 6000 is slightly more blue,
but that is up to u.

now for your high and low yes, for cars like yours with high and low beam in one globe i use the Dual beam kits. Does hi and low beam like normal so nothing will change.

except be able to see a lot more at night now haha.

the actuall light doesntr change its a cover over the light which moves which then changes the light from looking down to up for high beam. so they are great
once you drive with HID you will never want to use shit halogen again.

Colonel, to get projectors into your GC8 headlights your will need a kit like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....%3D4%26ps%3D42

The DIY and pics after install here:
http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index...owtopic=105668

Points to note with this kit:
-Bi-xenon projector lens light, it is a new model auto headlight which combine the oval reflector with convex imaging theory,
-The Hi Beam/Low Beam is electromagnetic switched.
-Clear cut line with the legal excellent light shape, the light is soft to the vehicle and passerby
-The middle of the High light shadow has a focusing block, making driver vision brighter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GC8's need the H4 bulb type.
two 35w ballast need to be purchased separately.

Looking at the DIY thread you use the H4(D2S) Hi/Lo Bulbs that come with the kit. They are inserted inside the projectors you have pictured above.

Ultra Slim Line Ballast are about $40ea. shipped.

Might be easier to get the whole kit shipped (including slimline ballasts) for $280ish

I'm keen for the whole kit. They also provide discounts for combined shipping.

hi guys.

sorry to bump such and old thread but i thought it might be better than starting a new one.

anyway i've been toying with the idea of putting aftermarket headlight units into my peanut so i can use HID projectors.

came across this unit on eBay from the USA

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

wondering if anyone knows anything about this and how compatible it would be with our cars here in Aus.

cheers!

Also while this thread has resurfaced. has anyone fitted projectors to a GC8 and is it legal? I saw one tutorial which required cutting out part of the reflector so i would have thought that would earn a yellow

There was a website i saw ages ago in which some guy retrofitted projectors into the GC8 style headlights. Looked like an expensive operation, but could be worthwhile.

Is it pretty rare for the ballasts to die? My RHS headlamp sometimes comes on, but flickers a lot. I think i might try bulbs first.
