Front guards are easier to roll/pump than the rears... As Damo says tho,the guard liner will then sit loose and rub on the tyre. Certainly something I am willing to put up with to run wider wheels/tyres

Metal is metal mate, you're only limited by your skills or the skills of the person undertaking the job.

I can't find the receipt but I had to buy a new guard liner for my car when I first got it as the passenger side was missing completely. Only cost about $120 from Subaru from memory.
Maybe I exaggerated about the liner sitting loose on the tyre. Although the edge of the liner does sit loose, the plastic is pretty stiff so it doesn't sag. Only if you had a really low car and you pumped the guards out would it touch and even then it would only be under heavy suspension compression. My car was a bit low at one stage and it did rub a little on one side but I've since raised it ever so slightly and have no dramas. If you are concerned, a solution may be to heat and stretch the plastic liner so it lines up with the guard. I'm sure this wouldn't be too difficult? |

OK..
My car is at Dentcraft today, getting dents and "compression marks" (people leaning on the car) removed from 10 PANELS... that includes the C pillars, roof, and every panel on the car. Thats 8 years worth of imperfections! The dents were tiny and most people probably wouldn't bother, but I knew they were there and although most couldn't see them, I now know the car is going to be completely dent free. As for the guards, we're leaving the rears as they don't rub. The fronts are being rolled on a 45 degree angle, not completely flat, as they don't catch on my tyre except for when the car is at full lock and goes over a bump (turning into driveways or parking spots normally). The slight rolling will prevent this from occurring. This means we can keep the guard liners, as the metal tabs that the liner clips onto are still retained and in the right spot My bonnet has 4 dents in it which will be getting removed at a later date, probably just before I get the bonnet and bumper resprayed.. no use doing it now and risking further dents in it from people leaning on it! |

The car is clean and ready to go, just need to apply wax, tyre treatment and do the black trim with the trim polish... so the guard rolling today definitely wasn't cutting it too fine
