Default Speakers popping

Hey peoples.
I need some audio advice.
I have 2 sets of splits running off a 4 channel amp, the issue is that everytime I turn the stereo on or off or turn the volume to 0 all the speakers pop .... what is it and how do i fix it ?
I'm thinking it must be something relating to the amp as it doesn't seem to happen when the speakers are running straight off the headunit.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Stu

check all polarity, amp gain, split gain, voltage. if all of those are fine, it could be a faulty amp. hope it helps mate. good luck

It could be a number of things, but without physically inspecting the system can you be more specific as to what brand and model components you are using.

Cheers for the input guys.
Headunit is a Pioneer DEH 7350 or something similar, Pioneer splits (yellow cones) and a Cadence amp.
Sorry but I don't have the model numbers for the splits and amp.

Check the Earth for the AMP!

Cadence Amps have silent power switching and shouldn't thump at power-up.

Poor amp earthing can cause the amp to earth through the RCA cables via the head unit and give you a feed back thump.

Although a very high gain may cause it too. How high is the gain on the amp?

Also be sure to use the decks 'remote' lead for switching the amp on and not the 'aerial' lead they are switched differently.

It may also be worth checking the RCA's (unless you're using the high level inputs ).
I had a similar issue when i first did my stereo install, ended up being the brand new, gold plated, oxygen free blah blah blah RCA's were faulty.

Is it just the splits running off the amp? 4ch bridged to 2 I presume. If you haven't bridged the channels, and you're utilizing the other two channels also, but they're not popping, it would indicate that's it's not an earthing or remote switching issue, rather just an issue related to the channel the splits are on.

Good luck.
