Thought it best to post my question here.
Is there an easy way of telling what grade of tint os on your car? ie if it is or is not legal?
Rebuilding an RS lib and tint looks dark but might be legal. The car in question is ADM so had clear windows from factory. At some stage it appears to have had a JDM privacy window put in the boot. (Its a wagon) I remember reading somewhere that solid non moving windows didnt have to comply with the 35%? ruling. Anyone know if this is true and point me in direction of the relevent ADR?
If this is the case, I will just put clear windows in the doors, license it and then swap back.

Pretty sure just the fronts have to be within the legal darkness %'s.

Most new Subaru's will come with the full rear privacy glass so i cant
see an issue.

Tint shop should be able to tell you the % of your tint.

Seriously tho. What windows do they check when you are putting a car over the pits? Just fronts or all?

I have always used Formula1 tint from tint-a-car and been happy but admittedly I dont know much about tint, only what I like.

The Wags me and Corrie are doing has very dark rear door tint. Not privacy glass as it has a couple minor scratches. Factory privacy glass is imbedded and not a film I think.

Any advice would be great.

Sorry lads but ALL windows of a car must be 35% minimum. That includes moving, fixed and privacy ones. If it's privacy glass, it needs to be tinted accordingly so it stays 35% or more.

Isnt the factory tint on the back doors of an evo for instance, darker than 35%?

bitsamissin evo or subaru evo? No idea. But did a 4 day course last week on adr's, trucks and various other stuff and as of last week anyway, ALL windows cannot be under 35%.

Ok thanks for the info mate. Good to have people in the know on here.
At the end of the day it's the people who uphold the laws that gave the final say and that is 35% all round.
Will have to pull tint off the tailgate window at least.
Often wondered if tint shops test each car for 35% as many factory tints are slightly different and the combined tinting effect of factory and the film would be different from car to car.
Often laugh at people with super dark tint who bother to insure their car.

well i currently have a yellow and one of the conditions is the tint. I have been to a few tint shops to get quotes for 35% and all have told me my tint looks legal as is. I asked if the had a testing device and they said only liscencing uses it. Does anyone have access to this UV device??? I need this tint tested before i rip it off.
