Default GC8 Help side skirt

hey all

I have a MY00 GC8 on the weekend the little plastic pannel that comes of the side skirt and up the front of the rear wheel arch has snapped of the clips are broken. Just wonder where to get this part from and who can put it on the car. its black (not painted)

Cheers all for your help.

If you've still got it just glue it back on with a bit of contact adhesive.

i agree with pimpreza - even if you have the little screw/clip that holds it on, using adhesive does a much better job at holding it on anyway

I would go sikaflex over the contact adhesive though.

Right on the money there, as if you use contact adhesive, for example two way tape, the moisture will eventually make it fall off, and if you use a superglue type product you will dry out the plastic and it will eventually crystalise.

Regards to getting someone to fit it, if you no longer have the part, it would be easier just to go to a wreckers/subaru parts dealership (whom ever you purchase it from), and either sucker them into doing it for you or just doing it yourself.

Dependant upon whats involved it may be easier to jack it up, remove the tyre and do it that way (if purchasing a new unit).

If you havent got anything for the part to slot into, use masking tape to secure it into position so you can ensure that it wont move, and remember that you shouldnt really drive the vehicle for at least 24hrs after securing the old part back on.

Make sure you roughen up the paint a bit & the plastic too, I've had a couple of problems with Sikaflex not sticking to shiny surfaces but it's great stuff, my pewter STI badge has been on my boot for the past 4yrs using contact.

Alternately you can wipe the surface down with wax and grease remover (also called prepsol).
