Unhappy Paint chip

Hey folks, anyone know of a good place to get a paint chip repaired? I have a single chip taken out of the front left of my bonnet & it looks like it almost went through to the metal. My MY09 has the metallic gray paint job - not sure if that's a difficult colour to work with? What's a rough amount I could expect to pay to get it fixed?

umm.. did you just get your car? you're gonna get chips sooner or later and not just one. unless you drive like a granny and stay 50 metres behind everyone. invest in a clear bra if you're worried about chips.

you can use touch up paint to fix it and smooth it up with stuff like langka. make sure you shake real hard on metallic touch up paints to spread out the metallic bits.

You will not stop the chips on current model wrx and STI's ....the paint quality is shite!! I guarantee you it will get a lot worse ultimately requiring a respray. problem areas are bonnet, front guards, rear guards, lower edges of rear doors. You just have to live with it!

What Bruce said. My old man is a spraypainter and he can't believe how thin and pissweak the paint is (I have a MY08).

I have to drive down Roe Hwy every morning to work... I'm constantly copping rocks from all the semi's on that stretch and have 3 chips in my windscreen as well.

I agree paint is crap...i was hoping the paint would be better on the betty's than the older models.
Anyone know if any of the paint colours are better than others for stone chips etc. I know that the two wr blue wrx's i've had have been pretty terrible.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Apologies for sounding like an absolute noob, but where can I pick up some touch up paint that's the same as my paint job? Will Subaru be the best (and probably most expensive) option?

$15 for a small touch up bottle.

Get the paint code from the VIN plate and pop into any Subaru and advise them of the paint code.

This is the first car that I have actually seen paint chipping off in this area, wouldn't have thought that it would happen so easily.

Did some reading on NAISOC and the paint issue isn't just happening within Australia.

Just buy a 250ml pot of the same colour in acrylic & put a blob where the chip is, comes in handy when you get more, best place to get it is the guys on Balcatta Rd just west of Pickles on the opposite side of the road in the small complex just before the lights.
