Default scratched tint

I have recently [last few months] been getting more and more scracthes on all of my side windows.

The scratches look to be caused as the windows go up and down. I do not see how any major dirt/sand would be getting in there to cause the scratches.

does anyone know how to resolve this as I am looking at getting the tint redone, but do not want the new tint to go down the same path?

Is it as simple as removing the door card and cleaning something out? or is it better to replace the 10 year old felts with something new?

cheers in advance,

Toni

I would say best off replacing the felts. I would say genuine is the only option on them. No idea how much they are though.

yeah you might think the rubber seal at the top could keep dirt out, but inside the doors are dirty as fuck. they have drain holes at the bottom so all manner of shit can ingress into the window and get on the felty bits.

All done.

Felts were not too bad with just some little bits of grit in them. I just loosened off the 2x 10mm bolts on each bracket holding the felt and gave them a clean with a cloth. Like I said, my car does not exposed to too much dirt, so I guess that this means I can get away with just a clean. Changing the felts would be a bit more work.

Easy enough at this point though.

Toni

BTW: I have pics of each stage, so if anyone wants them, let me now and I can email them to you as a tutorial.

do you have electric wndows Joe?

If they are manual winders, we will have to remove these. Let me know when you are free and I will come and give you a hand. You can take pics as we go.

I have a trim tool for removing manual window winders but most times I need it I cant find it. Best thing I use is a piece of rag. Slide the rag behind the winder and slide it around until it catchs the clip and pops off.
