Default Installing flip out dvd player

hey all, just wanted to know how different it is to install a dvd player with a flip out screen as to a normal cd player.

is there much difference, coz they are the same size..well look it and fit in the same spot, so wots different when you go to install it? ive done normal cd players but have a feeling that a dvd flip out player might be diff. Anything specific to it i have to do??

any help greatly appreciated.

hiya...the only thing to watch out for is if the DVD player has an additional module/s. My Pioneer did, wasnt much of a problem - there was heaps of space in my 05 inside the console to fit it.

Apart from that all wiring and physically installing the deck was the same.

Good luck.

ps My deck front sits flush with the console with the face off. ie It sits proud to allow the screen to sit up properly. I also swapped the pocket with the deck to further assist this. The pocket is on top beneath my vents with the DVD player beneath.
I hope this heaps.

My alpine dvd player has a feature which moves the entire screen forward so it clears aircon knobs and stuff. Also the only difference is in wiring the Brain. Most dvd players have a seperate brain. But location is stillt he same.

i put the brain under the drivers seat so i didnt have to run heaps of wires to get it in the boot. Plus there is no room in my boot. So put the brain in a logical location.

big difference. like said in the above post you have the single din dvd, but then you have the main conrtol unit (brains) which you have to install elsewhere (under front seat is best option).

You'll have to extend the wiring of everything from the dash to the brains (speakers, power etc), re-locate RCA cables. few other wires to connect up as well. Will take a few hours to do, but not rocket science. Just follow wiring diagram.

I fitted mine had no dramas at all in the later models there is heaps room but i also had it in my old wrx as well and it slide right in.

All the brains for the deck i put in the boot ripped out all the seats and consol and ran cables under the carpet down the middle..
Cheers
