Morning all, Going to do a diy project.. my my05 wagon has had the indicator lenses removed by a owner before me.. but now have got condensation in my drivers side headlight so going to pull h/light out and pull it apart to reseal it, once i have baked light in oven and pulled light apart will i be able to reuse the sealant, or would it be better to buy new sealant from a auto shop to reseal it, what type of sealant would be best suited for that.. any ideas would be helpful

Yep, the glue on there will just become hot & able to pull apart - once you want to put it back together just push it as far as you can together, reheat in the oven & then pull out & push closer together.

But shouldn't need to reheat it...just run the silicon around the outer edge, throw in one of those "do not eat" packets from shoes etc. (attached to string) through the globe hole, put globe back in & leave overnight. Once removed jut pull it out.

Ok headlight out and ready for the oven but looks like h/light has been resealed with silastic.. so now not sure weither the heat from the oven will make the silastic goey n plyable enough to pull h/light apart..

well attempted the reseal on h/light and all seems well with it so far.. will check in the morning to see if h/light has a watery haze to the inside of light.. i did notice on my headlight and other light.. that previous owner or who did the black out and amber lense removal.. that the two brackets that screw to the back of lens body and clip into the body had been removed.. ???? so at a lose to know why there not there.. did make the light body easy to take out tho

Do a search for Clearing headlights, in the thread by American Dave, try PM Dan aka [BANNED] or perhaps even American Dave. From memory there was a good step-by-step DIY thread w/photos on Rexnet also.

Likely made it easier to put back in too, previous owner probably just got lazy or fed up trying to put them back in properly and decided it was easier without them, lots of possibilities why they're not there, question is do you need them? If not having them isn't causing you any grief then all's well, but Subaru wouldn't fit them if they do nothing.

ill_spector - already plenty of headlight clearing DIY threads to be found (a few different ones from other forums already referenced previously), but if you do, take heaps of photos & the more detail the better

Did mine following the NASIOC guide without any major dramas. Took about 4 hours. Very easy to do as long as you take your time.

I did this on my previous car (honda prelude). Just be careful when taking the plastic off after you take it out of the oven. Since the plastic heats up it can warp if you use too much force to pry it apart. Lucky I had a spare headlight and did my practice on that first.
