Default Installing a deck/head unit?

So, tomorrow I'm going to go out and buy myself a head unit (probably sony or JVC for now), Cause im sick of not being able to listen to my Ipod and need to do a drive to dunsbourough in a week so would like to be able to listen to music.

Just wondering, how hard is it to install one of these things myself? Anyone ever done it?

What needs to be done/ How do I do it?

I have searched but found nothing.

Car is MY05 WRX sedan.

Most places that you buy the deck from (if new) can install for you at a not to bad price. If you are paying big bucks for the deck they sometimes do it included in the price. However if you want to do it your self you can usualy buy a small wiring loom that plugs into your new decks wirring and into your cars original wirring, so you sont have to start cutting and chopping into it.

Yeh, I was hoping it would just fit without needing to make it a custom size and whatnot?

Depending on what deck you have in there now. I think the 05 comes out with either a single din or double din? If you are replacing a single with single then all good and vice versa. If you are going double to single it will stil fit but you will have to find/make a blanking plug for the gap that you will create.

In my MY06 you undo the console side panels, remove the centre panel, and I think there was a bit of a hidden screw there, give it a but of a tug, if its not clipped in theres a screw holding it.

Then it was easy access to the stereo brackets and the radio is out.

I also removed the centre console back to the gear stick first, but that wasn't needed.

+1 for Macey at Cannington's Westside or Haydn up at Morley now I think. Either of those or Pete and Simmo at Albert's Cannington. You cant f it up then.
