Default Urgent help needed, warranty issue?

Hi guys, I was washing the Rex for the first time last night, AutoGlym all the way but that is another post Anyway I took the front plate off to take the damn Wanneroo Mazda plate surrounds off and this is where the issue began. When I went to put the plate back on, the nut that it screws into inside the bumper fell down inside and I can't see it to get to it

My question is, would anyone consider recovering that nut and re-fitting it a warranty issue? It still has new car warranty which I was told is bumper to bumper but not sure if it covers something like this. I hope it does as it seems the front bumper will have to come off

Any help would be muchly appreciated before calling the dealer and Subaru, just like to get some thoughts for if they argue.

I hope you aren't serious!

The fact that you took it off I doubt they'd cover it and probably laugh when you asked.

Wouldn't be too sure if warranty was designed to cover this sort of thing.
You will need to take the front bumper off to retrieve and put the nut back into position.
Might as well get some sort of adhesive compound to make sure the nut never moves again =P

The whole process of removing the front bumper is quite easy and takes about 5 minutes or 10 minutes if your wanting to do it slowly and carefully.
There were a couple of videos going around on NAISOC for the removal of the MY08/09+ bumper.
You should be able to find it pretty quickly.

If its still got new car warranty, just drop into one of the Subaru dealers and ask the question.. can't see it taking more than 5 minutes of your time to enquire, and you might get a favourable result, rather than speculating here on the forums

Better get a large Coke with that as well PIG

Thanks Soksta, found the vid JIC they won't do anything about it, looks much easier than removing my Commodore bumper ever was!

Balistc that's that plan, just can't get down until lunch time and was wondering what everyone else thought, it's kinda pissing me off that this would happen on a MY09 but it's all part of the joy of owning a car.

Hardly "txt speak" mate, more of a fandangled internetz speak... Are you going to start saying "laugh out loud" instead of lol?

Just spoke with City Subaru and seems like someone screwed the plate in too hard previously, probably when putting the Wanneroo Mazda plate surrounds on and this forced the nut into the bumper.

Not covered by warranty, next step is to call Wanneroo Mazda and if they won't do anything it will be bumper off tonight, good times!

I thought dealer plate surrounds were clip-ons?

I can't see any way they would have clipped them on without scratching the paint, hence why I took the plates off to get the surrounds off. Then again they have done it hundreds of times so possibly.

Surely you can get the 'nut' with a magnetic pickup tool?

Usually they are clipped on and fall off if you aren't careful.

I'd be pretty sure any workshop would gladly help you out for a few bucks, rather than having to pull apart a new car.
