Default Installing STI Splitters

hey folks,

I have just bought a set of STI Splitters, and fog light covers to install onto my WRP10; the idea being once these are on I will install an Ultrex carbon fibre lip spoiler.

My issue is, do the splitters attach over the 1 piece bumper that i currently have??

This is the part i have just brought:

and this is my current bumper:

I haven't offered the splitters up yet, as i am waiting for Subaru to give me the fig light covers tomorrow so i can install both at the same time (they sent me the wrong parts today). but i know how those will fit

I've spoken to PMH who is my go to guy on everything (cos at this stage he knows everything, and i always seem to ask him my dumb questions, and he ALWAYS has the answer) and he thinks that i might need to use some Silkaflex and elbow grease.

has anyone installed these splitters that could point me in the right direction? or has some pics that may help me?

Any info would be awesome, thanks in advance.

Yes they go over your bumper. You will need to drill couple of holes. 20 min job, just measure it out and go for gold. I got pics but they on my comp , I'm too bust playing cod haha

Really? ouch, i can think of better ways to lose $150.

Might take it all to your bodywork guy at work, see what he can do.

sorry about the size of the picture. But drill those holes out, bolt it to you bumper from under the car and maybe use those plastic christmass trees for wheel side and bob is your uncle.

For added security and piece of mind, go out and buy some Sikaflex 'which is essentially a flexible rubber based glue', and squirt some on here and there 'please note its good to let this dry for at least 24hrs, and make sure the glue makes contact with both the splitter and the bumper'.

Thanks for the info folks, appreciate it.

Letting it dry won't be an issue as I'm having a synchro fixed and new clutch installed so there will be plenty of time when it's just sat in the dealership :-)

I didnt drill any holes !
I cut the tabs off the splitters with a dremel tool and used 2 inches of heavy duty double sided tape at the top front corner of each side, and if you properly bolt and clip them on they will never move,
here is a diy but this is a hatch and no holes are required to be drilled on the sedan

If you get the genuine subaru ones they come with 3 tabs at the top of the splitter. The copies don't have that. Personally I think the tabs are needed.

Basically, hot knife out the slots on your existing bumper for the 3 slots at the top as per the picture above. The genuine ones also come with a 'pop clip' in the center of the splitter, the STi front bumper has cut outs for this. The WRX doesn't. Simply remove this whole bit, I even sanded it back where the plastic was... Bit of overkill but meh

Then install the rest as per the factory holes. I also found that installing the front lip with full on structural bolts over plastic clips meant the whole thing could take a hammering.

You could also put sikaflex / 3M double sided automotive tape on to make sure they stick like shit to a blanket.
