I am wanting to put foglamp covers onto my Club Spec Evo 4 (MY00 WRX), and would prefer genuine parts if possible (not too phased by the slight extra cost). However have received the following email from Subaru OP:

If you are inquiring about fog lamp covers for your vehicle, not listed from factory
If asking about covers on STI vehicles then yes they are color coded to suit vehicles of that year
Your vehicle and STI vehicles have different bumpers, therefore covers from STI will not fit standard bumpers.

Is this true? To me the bumpers look the same, although I guess there could be slight sizing differences not visible to the naked eye? I wanted to purchase genuine covers already painted and stickered up. Has anyone else done this and can give me a quick prod in the right direction.

AFAIK you could only purchase them un painted.

They will fit your bumper, however as they have said your car did not come with them from factory, so even if they were painted, they would not have your colour.

I always thought they were exactly the same, just the STi from factory had a front lip and covers. Also fairly certain ill need to the take the lamps out for the covers to fit?

I went back to Andrew at Subaru OP and asked if they can supply the STi covers in my paintcode or whether they just supply factory STi colours, and if they can't do it i asked for a quote with stickers but unpainted.

^ regarding your fog light i think they will need to be removed because of the brackets. ebay specs you don't i think because they don't require brackets, and some apparently are glued on to the foggies

Why genuine? Would be easier to go ultrex, get painted, stickers from ebay and done. Would probably be much cheaper with the same result. Plus stickers from ebay can be had in different colours. I think factory was white? Your car would suit black I'ld imagine. Or does the white STI have black not sure?

I got my genuine ones (painted, stickered) form japanparts.com.

With the MY98 I also had to buy the brackets to bolt it up. You don't need a STi bumper, that is just Subaru being dickwits.

I have happy smile super challenge family wish show STI foglight stickaz if you want. Pink logo, black text i'm pretty sure.

+1 for not needing an STi bumper. What a crock. Love your cars Subaru; don't love your dealers.
